Did you know that almost 200 matches full of thrills and spills will take place on the sand in Poreč next week and that all of them can be watched for free?

Well now you know – so why are you doing here reading the rest of this article? Prepare the car, plan the route and we’ll see you there, okay?

Great!

But…. just before you set off for the beautiful Croatia coastline it might be worth you reading the rest of this article, because, well we want to set the scene and because some of the information included might come in handy.

Why? Well, with over 200 beach volleyball battles played out a stone’s throw from the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea at our second Poreč Major, it can be a little confusing knowing what’s on and where.

So if you’re joining us for long days of sundrenched smiles and serving courtside in Croatia, here’s our little guide to know where and when to head.

The tournament itself could officially begin as early as Monday with country quota games, but the important business of 48 qualification matches take place across Tuesday and Wednesday.

The big guns then enter the stage as the main draw action begins on Wednesday for the women and Thursday for the men. It’s these days that involve hectic timetables of pool play matches as the players fight tooth and nail for their places in the knockout rounds.

Across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there are 134 matches alone and, spread across six courts including Center Court, you will have plenty of time and choice to pick and choose where you take your Croatian phrasebook, cold drink and sunglasses.

There might be less matches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but don’t let that fool you. These are days when the temperature soars and the excitement and noise is cranked up to the max.

This is what the weekend is made for, and hey, it might even be time to upgrade to a VIP package. On Friday it’s the women’s quarterfinals while on Saturday it’s the men’s quarters and women’s semifinals and finals. And then, on Sunday, the Poreč Major reaches its climax with the men’s semifinals and finals.

Then, dear beach volleyball fan, after the medals have been hung gloriously around the necks of the winners and the last lyrics of the national anthems have been sung – just like that, in a flash – the Poreč Major is over for another year. *Sad face*

But let’s not think about that before it’s even started! Just prepare yourself for another epic Poreč spectacular!

So now you can dig the map out and pack the picnic basket – and we’ll see you @ the beach.
